First Things First, before You Repost an Instagram Post

If you want to repost someone's post on Instagram, it's best to get permission from the original creator first so that you can repost their work without infringing on someone else's copyright or license. To get permission from the original creators in Instagram, you can send a direct message to them or comment on their photo to start the conversation directly. Besides, it's recommended to give the creator credit for their work when you repost a post on Instagram.

When you have the permissions, you can repost their post on Instagram using one of the methods below.

Part 1 How to Repost Instagram Feed Posts to Your Story

In fact, Instagram doesn't provide an official way to repost others' posts to your Instagram story. But you can share someone's post from Feed to your story if their account is public and they've allowed re-sharing of their posts.

Step 1
Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device and find the Instagram post you want to share.
Step 2
Tap the paper airplane icon next to the comment bubble.
Step 3
Then a list will appear with other people you could send it to, or, just click Add post to your story.

Step 4
Now, the post appears embedded in a new Instagram story, and you can now add the usual gifs, text, and music.
Step 5
When finished, tap Your Story to publish as a new Instagram story.

Part 2 How to Repost a Story on Instagram When Tagged

Besides using the way above, you can also repost an Instagram story that has mentioned or tagged you. When you're tagged in someone's Instagram story, you will receive a notification in your Direct Messages from that person. If you want to share the Story you've been tagged in, follow these instructions below:

Step 1
Also click the paper airplane symbol to go to your Direct Messages.
Step 2
Find the message telling you that you've been tagged in a Story, and tap "Add This to Your Story" on the message.
Step 3
Now it will take you to stories editing mode, you can add GIFs, stickers, or text to edit the Story.
Step 4
Once done, tap Next and then select where you want to post the Story - your Story, your Close Friends, or a Direct Message to another account.

You can only do the mention sharing when the post are posted by a public account and it enabled the Instagram Sharing Story feature. If you're tagged in a Story that post by a private, you can also get a notification in your Direct Messages, but can not share this story.

Part 3 How to Repost a Story on Instagram When Not Tagged

Want to repost a story on Instagram when you’re not tagged or try to share one that from a private account? Frankly speaking, Instagram doesn't offer a native tool to repost a story from a private account. But, you can find some workarounds here to allow you to repost other Instagram users' posts.

3.1 Repost on Instagram Using a Screenshot/Screenrecord

The quickest and easiest way to repost someone's story on Instagram is to take a screenshot. Here's how to manually repost photos on Instagrm in simple steps:

Step 1
Find the photo you'd like to repost and take a screenshot of it on your phone.
Step 2
Crop the screenshot to take out unnecessary elements in the picture like the rest of the app or your phone’s status bar.
Step 3
Once you have the photo saved to your camera roll, tap on the camera icon within Instagram and select your screenshot to post as you do to share any other picture on Instagram.
